In 1980, I purchased a Les Paul and I was un-sure about what year it was manufactured so I sent a SASE (for the Millennial's) that's a Self Addressed Stamped Envelop. Gibson was awesome, I still have the letter they reported that the SN could indicate it was a 69 or 1970 however if it has MADE in USA Stamped in the Wood next to the SN that would confirm a 1970. I would guess that the same would apply to all models manufactured that year and this bass could be a 1970 based on the Stamp Made in USA. However what a cool looking bass! |

Wow, that didn’t take long to disappear... very cool, and very rare... I don’t recall ever seeing another lefty EBO with a slotted headstock. That’s the mystique of these 60’s / early 70’s Gibsons, and why it’s not a $1200 bass: they were all “special orders”. It’s like opening Forest Gump’s box of chocolates- you never know if/when/what you’re gonna get- because no one knows what’s out there. |
