I don't know anything about these--I'm not even sure I've ever seen one before.

That looks a lot like the old Ampeg Baby Bass. Pretty cool!

Website for KK baby bass. They make various models, most available lefty and reasonably priced.
My band did a gig where a latin band opened for us. The bassist played one and it sounded terrific, much better than the old Ampegs.

Lovely basses.
In the makers pic's, I'm seeing a thin loop over the strings just ahead of the bridge. Anyone know what that's for? It doesn't look strong enough to be any kind of guard or rest.

I went to their website and looked at the specs. It says it has a "diaphragm magnetic pickup" with tone and volume controls, so that loop is the pickup. There's no piezo on these.

It does sound pretty good. I'd like a little more mid range meat, not a lot. Just enough to round it out. Would hope that could be adjusted. Nice Brian Setzer version of the tune. FYI, at about 5:20 Setzer throws in a few bars of the Nelson Riddle theme from the old Route 66 TV show. Completely unrelated to the blues standard but a a great jazz track on it's own.
