Backlund Rockerbox Bass UPDATE

Via Eastwood's Custom Shop. Eastwood is now distributing Backlund instruments. If you're not familiar with Backlund, check their stuff out on Eastwood's site. IMO, they're one of the most exciting and original instrument designers today. All their instruments have a cool retro 50's/60's Jetson's style appearance to them with modern appointments.
So the way Eastwood's Custom shop works is he introduces a future instrument design he wants to produce, and let's the public decide if it goes into production or not via a GoFundMe style campaign. The majority of their ideas get through, so he produces just enough instruments to fulfill orders.
The Backlund Rockerbox Bass has already been fully crowdfunded, so it is going into production. I think this bass is amazingly gorgeous. He will be offering lefties for April 2019 delivery, but he hasn't decided on a color yet. I personally dig the red and cream one the best, and plan on putting down my $200 deposit. There are 8 days left in the campaign. Check it out:

Yes, a great looking bass design! I'l like to see the teal and blue basses have fret markers in the their same color, like the orange has....

The original pre-order on this model fell through due to lack of interest. I spoke to Mike at Eastwood, and he basically said if we can drum up a minimum of 8 deposits/orders, we can get it done. So who's in? I know we've been able to pull this off in the past. I may decide to order more than 1 just to get it happening, in which case I'll try to sell them later. But if we're willing to coordinate a mass order, I can supervise/organzie that too. So let's make it happen!

I'd be interested but how much to ship to Australia would be my question? Do they come with a case?

The Rockerbox guitars come with a hardshell case so I have to assume the bass models will too. As for shipping to Australia, I'd contact them directly for an estimate:

The pre-order price was listed at $1249 + shipping with a $200 deposit to secure the order. The funding campaign ended on 12/28/18 and my original deposit was refunded due to lack of interest (not just lefties, but these basses in general). So these never went into production.

Pulled this from the Backlund website:
Where are Eastwood® Guitars made?
We make Eastwood® Guitars in three different factories based in Korea and China. Many accessories such as cases and Airline straps are Made in Canada.

So Mike has started a new crowd fund for this bass, in hopes of making it happen. It ends in 42 days, so let's try to make it happen. Here's the link:

I've had hit and miss experiences with Eastwood too, but I've found the quality level really depends on the brand (i.e my Airline Map bass is exceptionally well made, the Eastwood Hi Flyer not so much), and this is not an Eastwood, its only distributed by Eastwood. John Backlund makes well-made, revolutionary designs.

Still gonna be his design, with his permission to let them make these somewhere they won't even mention, right?
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just guessing!

They're being produced in Korea. All it took me was one e-mail to Mike to confirm this.
