I see demon faces & skulls in that veneer!
The back view is a let down.

The bass is in Charlotte -- I'm thinking about going up there to check it out.

Does anyone have any experience / thoughts about Elrick?

Rob Elrick has quite a few fans over on TB. Looks like a great bass.

I just noticed the perfectly aligned grain pattern in the body wood around the horns and neck pocket. Was the tree it came from genetically engineered to be a bass guitar?

Heh. It's like the contour lines on a topographic map :)

The price just dropped to $1799.

I drove up to Charlotte a little over a week ago to play the bass. It really is nice -- 8 pounds, great sounds, looks cool, and I love the preamp. Unfortunately, I struggled to play the instrument smoothly. I'm sure it's that fact that I am used to a 34" inch scale four string with wide spacing.

Hopefully, someone here grabs it.

Very nice bass.... The map on the horn is just epoxy filler. They might have gotten it better to match but if so it would have looked like crap. The epoxy filled kinda adds character and it's wood ;)
My issue with it (easy new nut cut) is the string spacing on the nut is sooo close. Nice bass tho and very fair low price.

I'm glad that you mentioned the string spacing. I played the bass and really struggled with the spacing on the first five frets. It's really the only reason I don't own it.

I couldn't figure it out -- the string spacing at the bridge is 19mm and the nut width was about 48mm.
