Not quite a unicorn, but nor do they come up very often.

I don't think I have ever seen an L-1000 without a control plate.

Edit: I hadn't noticed it was a 2014! Cool.

Just ordered it. :)

This makes me think “single coil PBass with ‘roid rage”. Looks like a fun bass for sure.

good deal - well done. These were part of a special order done by Rocket Music in 2014. I got a 5 string version :)

Yes, I remember agonizing back then over whether I had the funds to jump in. I didn’t. But I’ve been saving gig money, so this one is music paying for itself. :)

A last follow-up: it arrived this morning, and I am smitten. It's a total powerhouse, the build is impeccable, it's lightweight and well-balanced, just a wonderful instrument.

This is the third G&L I've owned, and every one of them has been a jewel. I am a fan.

Great score - I'm a big G&L fanboy - I have 7 of 'em. The old ones are great but often heavy. Newer ones tend to be a little lighter. I have an '81 L1000 fretless and '83 L1000 fretted - the fretted one is a boat anchor (mahogany body).
