This is an example where alcoohol and power tools don't mix.
Routed the J cavity for split P, now there's a huge hole between the pickup and pulled the frets... :? :cry:
Seller's description:
Serial number search provides the following info:
Manufactured 2000-3-16 in Germany
Corvette Standard, 4-string
Natural Oil finish
Bubinga body
Ovangkol neck
Chrome hardware
Left-hand

It's in excellent shape for it's age. Modifications include:

1) Conversion to a fretless with inlaid fretlines
2) Neck j-pickup removed and hole re-routed to hold a split-P pickup
3) Stock pickups replaced with Seymour Duncan Basslines pickups.

Honestly, if the price was right, along with a couple other "ifs,"
I'd take that fretless warwick pj for a spin. With the bubinga body and the p pickup, that bass could bring the pain, or it could be mud city, idk? I wonder if the defret was a pro job? A true corvette pj model would be awesome though.

I think what bugs me the most about it is that they could have used a split-coil J pickup without touching the wood (my plan for mine).

But if the fretboard was done well it may still be a very nice instrument. Not $700 nice, though. $700 would be an okay price for a pristine Corvette.

I agree. I'd probably only give about half of the asking price with the mods being a gamble, and not being able to try it first.
It's one thing if the body OR neck was modded, but in this case your taking a chance on the whole damn thing.

The markers are not the proper position for fretless I believe, so you would have to drop some cash to refret the neck, fill that pickup hole and paint the body solid. Big project!

Actually many years ago I paid $200 for that bass and had a well established local Raleigh builder defret and later route that front pickup. I had a round surround cover for the inverted split P pickups. (Think Rick Turner or Hamer B12a)
Once I acquired a Spector Euro and then a Pedulla Buzz the Warwick had to go. (It's actually a decent bass but apparently does not meet certain cosmetic criteria.... but what do I know)
