“Has some small imperfections...” - translates to “was owned at some time by a complete moron, who decided to mutilate it after a night of Schlitz and Jägermeister”

Wow it looks a little different in those days, the top horn doesn't cut all the way back or seems a little stumpier.

$8500 for a bass that's essentially destroyed? Come. On.

That top horn shape baffles me. The finish looks original, or if a refin, was done a long time ago and possibly back at the factory.
It may have been used as a lefty most of its original life. The Strap pin gets pulled out and refitted too often and the horn gets filled & shortened & a refinish.
...or the body blank was too short or the profiling cut substandard, so the production manager decides to make a lefty out of it, 'cause those guys will put up with anything.

Knock off a zero and it might be worth having a prosthetic built.
