I'm trying to get in touch with the store to see if it has a build sheet. It looks like it still has the original tags. It has definitely piqued my interest. I'll post a reply if I get one! |

No build sheet, but he said the other papers were in the case. It does have the stacked knobs. I spoke with Adan at that store and he was really nice and helpful. I may have to get this one myself. The white is transparent as well. |

Hm. As far as I know stacked knobs & white pickup covers aren’t mod shop options unless they added that extremely recently. |

Yeah. I didn't see those options either when I was messing around. It is also weird if it was a mod shop to have all the papers but a build sheet. I don't know for sure that they come with one but I'd imagine they would. If it isn't a mod shop, any idea what it could be? |

It seems to be a mod shop. Someone just made their own changes I think. Mod shop came out of ADE, and they didn’t send a build sheet along with those. Custom Shop does however |

I decided to hold off on this one and do some work on my purple jazz and pedalboard instead. She's getting all new gold hardware and some white EMGs. |

Yes, I was going to post about it. Too many red flags: Gutted electronics- concentric controls that don’t seem to work properly (volume won’t go all the way down). Pickup covers have definitely been replaced, but pickups could be original. Not sure though. Neck and body are dated a year apart. 2016 serial on the neck, but it looked like 2017 in the neck pocket (remember, these are supposed to be made to order). Truss rod nut is turned in way too far for a neck dated 2016. Also, the truss nut is the slotted cross type and not the usual modern Fender USA Allen wrench type. I dunno what the hell is up with that. Neck adjusted ok, but it was a banana when I opened the case. The neck/truss rod was obviously the deal breaker for me. Too risky. I knew I’d replace the electronics, so that wasn’t a big deal. So in other words, the Mod Shop seems to be continuing the tradition of wonky necks and shit quality that ADE is so fondly remembered for. Shame. It’s a sexy bass to look at. Highly un-recommended. |

It’s odd that you pay a premium for an instrument that’s a fraction of the quality of the usual production line American Standard or American Professional. I’ve had a bunch of those since 2008 and although i know a few turds make it out to the shelves, they’re consistently great basses in every way, in my experience. |
