Saw that too (among -too many- other things).
A shame the (bridge) alignment is wonky on most of the old Fenders I see..

It's hard to tell at this resolution, but it almost looks as if the skunk stripe shrunk and left a small gap near the headstock. Maybe some air got underneath the finish through the truss rod slot. I have a USA Telecaster guitar from 2000 that has something similar. The lacquer on the skunk stripe is separating in several places. On the dot inlays as well (black dots, lacquered-over with clear coat).
