Gorgeous. Although cautious about the mention of scratches in the description. <side note> It's funny, I love the look of these Aerodyne basses, with matching headstock and all... I always thought I wanted one. But then when I was in Japan earlier this year, I got to play a few of them. And surprisingly they didn't hit me right. The body felt unusually large and it felt, I don't know, like it wasn't totally solid or something. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I played 2 or 3 and they all felt awkward to me and I didn't buy one.</side note>

I've never seen one in person, but when people describe how light they are, I can't help but imagine hollow plastic. They look and sound great, though, even if not my look or sound.

They are basswood bodies.

I have no major bias against Basswood Japan Fenders in general, but otherwise I have to concur with Richard. The Aerodyne is indeed lovely to look at, and I always thought I would want one until I actually played a few and just wasn't that impressed. Not that it was terrible, but it felt overpriced- more like a $599–$699 bass than $999 and up. Looks aside, Fender Japan's 60's-70's reissues feel much better built overall to me.

On the other hand- a lefty Fender Japan Jaguar would be much more interesting... if you could find one!

You had to go and mention the Jaguar, didn't you?! I've been trying to get my hands on one for years! They last did that lefty run in what, like 2010 or so?? :-)

I tried about 6 basses with basswood body that I can tell, they all seemed good, there was only one that I really didn't liked at all.

Yeah Paulo, I think the basswood debate has probably been covered in other threads... but I have Ibanez RB and SR basses that are basswood and they are excellent, as well as Fender Japan's 60's-70's reissues. My experience has been that in the hands of a quality builder, basswood has been just fine for many basses. I'm sure there's probably inferior grades of it (or even other mystery wood being passed off as "basswood") out there being used to build cheap instruments, but that's nothing new for any type of wood.

Yes- and why they continued to build Aerodynes and discontinued the Jaguar never made any sense to me. Seems like it should have been the other way round, doesn't it? I know which one I'd rather have!

Carmine, BTW I was able to get a right handed all black that is amazing, has a great tone and it's beautiful.
I wanted to ship it over to my nephew but he just got a new bass there, also the shipping was a little steep and he would still had to pay import taxes for it so I had to but it back in the market.
I then saw this exact same bass for sale on Reverb, and then it was posted on Ebay.
There's actually 2 Ebay listings of this bass from different sellers, probably resellers.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2000s-Fender-J ... 0033.m2042
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Japan-A ... 0033.m2042
The Reverb listing was with a better price with shipping included so I've sent them an offer there and they accepted!
Looks like they where the original sellers and the other 2 on Ebay where selling it for some extra money.
It's been already shipped so I should have it here I hope in about 2 weeks!

As gorgeous as the Aerodyne looks, I imagine the binding would be a turnoff to play for me. I started wearing wristbands at gigs specifically to counteract that when I play my Rick.

The binding on the black one has no sharp edges like the Rick 4003, in fact it is rounded following the contour of the body so I actually can't barely feel it!

Hell yeah, man! To reiterate what others have said, I lusted over these when I first got to this forum. I specifically rememeber that Bassaria had just sold his when I joined.

I would have been all over this in a minute back when I first joined because I have always loved the carved top and while this model comes in a few excellent colors, the OCR is just gawwwwjus!

But, the interest passed before I could find one at a decent price, which is okay because I am a jazz guy and I don't think I would have ever really been in love with the tone as much as I was with the looks.

Man, what a stunner!
