Wasn't categorized as a lefty, so I missed it until I went looking specifically for Warwicks.

That's Chinese too. That's what it cost brand new but this one should have a better price.

I don't think it is Chinese. It has a Just-a-nut I, so might be late 90's, early 00's German made. And it has the recessed Dunlop straplocks. It says Fortress I on the TRC, too, with no Rockbass logo anywhere to be seen. Ask for a pic of the back of the headstock. The neck wood and serial number will tell you for sure.

I've been looking for one of these for ages. I called the store, too, to get the weight. One of the guys called me back and said they couldn't get a clear reading, and that it could be anywhere between 9 and 12lb, but it felt to him like it was 15 lb. . .

Anyhow, at least they tried. ;)

Killer deal for anybody not so sensitive to weight.

15#??? Sounds like you spoke to one of those limp-wristed guitar players.

At that price, why not just give it a shot, if you've been looking for one for so long? I'm sure you'll have no trouble reselling a real German made Warwick at that price.

They do tend to be a tad heavy. My Streamer LX 5 is a real tank despite the compact bodyshape. The big, chunky neck adds a fair amount of weight too. Ovangkol and wenge aren't exactly low-density. But it's worth a try!

I resisted posting this bass months ago after comparing its original price with this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/W109-WARWICK-LE ... Swe-FU51I1

With the price drop it started making more sense but I recall having a hard time trying to figure out if it was a real German... :?

I totally forgot this thread :D . I snagged this bass last week. The original picture was crap. Firstly it's not black, it's brown. It is, however, cosmetically challenged- the past owner clearly sweated a lot as even the pickup screws are corroded away. The frets are green - bass is currently in pieces and being overhauled. It's a 95 Fortress BTW- the second year they offered the 5 string JJ. Has West German tuners and non-quick access battery compartment. It also weighs the same as a tank.

Will post updates once I've cleaned it up.

Once it's clean, I will put it on the scales. Right now it's on a cleanse ;)
