I just changed the subject title since this is a Joe Osborn, not Darryl Jones. Thx Jeroen and Andrew. It looks so clean now. Black with Maple board and block inlays is my all time fav config. It took a while but she's back. Curious what happened to Darryl Jones and why he is no longer on Lakland. Someone else snagged him.....

Wonder if he went back to A Basses. Although I've heard rumours that he went to BC Rich, but I couldn't help but laugh hysterically when I heard that. Time will tell :)

A Basses is returning, which is likely where Daryl is headed.

There's been conflicting info about the DJ Lakland bass; it's either done being made or (as I suspect) it's going to get a slight face lift and come back under a new name.

Whyyyyyyy!?
http://cgi.ebay.com/LAKLAND-JOE-OSBORN- ... 2eaa5a9c39

Can't afford it now... Wish I bought it for 1400 back then :x
I'm seriously considering which guitars and basses I would be willing to let go for this...

One thing though. Do they really charge 600 (!!!) for a J-Retro?
Those cost 300 USD in stores, and routing a battery cavity can't possibly be THAT expensive :?

I really do not want to sell it I would much rather keep it but truth is I do not play it. I was considering brining it back to passive but truth is I play my Roscoe and my Warwick Jazzman all the time. The Fendery type of bass was never my thing but I always wanted a quality 5 string jazz so this thing is it. Gravesbass did and has had killer work done to this bass and it is a 9.9 besides a couple of miniscule dings on the headstock and the pre amp is a bit more battery hungry than my other basses.
I am paying off another bass that I can’t wait to get and I’m also looking to purchase a new synthesizer or workstation. I need the money and I might even take a different position within my company to work less hours but it’s also less money for the time being. This bass is so killer and it has seen the light of day one time last month. It should be played! Anyone here wants to make an offer we could work off the bay. All the upgrade prices and original price from Lakland are list prices taken right off the sight. Nobody would have paid over 6K for a new one most likely around 4K if they would even do it for you. Thanks

I want that bass... too bad you weren't interested in trades. :(

BTW - There are TWO lefty JoBo 5'ers known to exist.

I have the other one.

I just want to put it out there that I am only possibly interested in trades. Most likely money is what I want to trade for it or I'll keep it. Thank You.

Hi, let's call this bass SOLD!!!....to me.

Thank you Jeroen for pointing this out! I've been following it since Gravesbass got it. My dream of owning a lefty JO5 is finally realized!! This bass WILL be played....after converting back to passive. Who wants a J-Retro?

Thanks Andrew, yeah, it's been a long time comin'. I'm going to give the J-Retro a try, but i hear it colors the sound quite a bit. Just depends on whether it's a 'good' color.

We are all going to have to rewrite the Willie Nelson song "To All the Girls I've Loved Before" to All the lefty basses I've owned before. You know I have loved them all and it is like I had a weekend in Paris or a summer in Rome with them. I lovely memory of a perfect bass that never let me down because we didn't keep each other around too long. They will remain in mind young thin beautiful forever. Now it's me that has grown old "beer belly" and frail left with nothing but fleeting memories of all the lovely ladies that have been in and out of my life and in and out of my door.........

WWHHHEEEWW!! Damn good thing I still got a Roscoe 6, A Euro Spector 5, Warwick Jazzman Corvette 5, Warwick Double Buck 5, A Fretless Spector 4, and so on....I keep a couple young pretty girls around anyway. I still got some loving left in these old bones. YYEEEHHHAAA!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Very glad to hear this bass went to another lefty board member and not some unknown ebayer. Its a great bass a and even better now with the finish. Enjoy her Alan.

Thanks!! I just tried all the pickguards on and went back to the black....very classy. Still having problems with the battery-eating situation. Will probably have to go to the shop to fix it once and for all. It could still end up being passive however.

It WILL be played! It will probably end up smelling like smoke, getting dings, having fretwear....part of the deal i guess.

Edit: OH and...Thumbslam (Joe) was a pleasure to deal with!! He went out of his way to make me feel confident about the transaction, packed the bass well, and got it shipped in a timely manner. I wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.

Also, I got my local guy to fix the preamp 100%. This is one sweet bass!!

Another quick update...this bass spent a little more time in the shop for a fret leveling and pre-amp removal...that's right, she's passive!! Got a push/pull - series/parallel switch on the volume control, blend and ToneStyler® in there. Lots of different tones with no battree!! Also, put the tortoiseshell p/g on there for a change of pace. Can't wait to try her out at the gig tonight!!
