Gibson bought Tobias Guitars in 1990 and I am 99% sure this is one of them "Gibson" but I know Mike talked about the first year or so they were still pretty damn good as he stayed on for a year or so to oversee things. I think 1992 they moved and it went way downhill. Due to the condition and this being one of the mid level models it's way over priced but I'm sure a nice bass. I had one but for some reason it looked much better than it sounded or played but mine was a later model...

The Gibson bass still are nice, although not the art pieces they used to be, and this one being a '92 should still pretty nice. Bad thing about these basses: the weight!

I think I've told this story before, but I few years ago and got to know our local Gibson sales rep and they lend me (indefinitely) a brand new 6-string Tobias which cost like $5000. . . Long story short, I played one gig and gave it back. I think it was 11 to 12 lb. :x
