My '76 Jazz has the same bold "76."

It was a transition year for their serial number format. Sometime during 1976, they switched to the "S6" plus 5 digits format.

A store in Berkeley had one of those in '93... It had like 55-115 flats on it and it took almost everything I had to fret a note. It was literally painful to play and sounded like a tuba with a blanket stuffed in the bell.

They priced it at $799 and I thought it was a ripoff... I guess I should have bought it.
