Sorry, I don't know what the body wood is. It was well balanced and from what I remember I would describe it as having a medium weight, not light for the smaller size. It had very good action, easy to play and had a nice warn sound with the flats I put on it. I bought it off of Ebay not knowing it was a 32'' scale. Wasn't listed as such. Was disappointed at first and went around with the seller a bit but ended up keeping it because of the way it played and sounded and its relative rarity. I didn't put it up for sale the present owner saw it on my we site http://www.wolfsmusicweekly.com/id45.html and contacted me about buying it. I added the tortoise pick guard $85 and chrome covers. Hope this helps. I'd like to see it go to another good home.
