Not big news, but pretty cool nonetheless. I know there was a discussion about this a few months ago. I hope the actual street prices will be cheaper than those found on eBay (i.e., the Stratosphere Store). . .

Funny that in the e-newsletter I received it says "while supplies last." This looks like they are trying to get rid of whatever inventory they have and this won't be a permanent offering. Maybe they are just trying to get rid of the mystic blue and red bodies, and will keep offering the black and sunburst after.

As I mentioned in other thread, the mystic red and blue are gorgeous colors, in case anybody has been thinking. . .

I take this as a good sign.

The example of the lefty sunburst P body is a stunning 2-piece body. It's just an example, but I wonder if that's what you might receive (a 2-piece). I was in a shop the other day and saw a righty 2-piece body on a 2012 Am Std Jazz Bass.

Cool that they're at least available. There really aren't a ton of options, but that's to be expected with our handedness.

I think this is good. I could have used it a few years back. Having said that, the fact that they didn't do this brought me to Warmoth, which was probably way better quality.

$500 is MSRP. Street price should be between $$350 to $375, which is about the same you'd pay for a finished Warmoth neck. . .

No, $500 is the direct price from Fender.

The MSRP is $700.

I also misunderstood MSRP$. In that case, they better include missile launchers and a jet pack!

That remains to be seen. Fender is going to have to include their dealers in the process in some way or this could be devastating for the company. They can't just cut out all those businesses without serious repercussions.

Found this post on Facebook from Jimmy@Southpaw Guitars yesterday. he's none too happy:

"Fender aftermarker necks and bodies are out and it no suprise to me that they would screw it up. Sorry guys no Rosewood Tele necks or Blond Tele bodies. What morons.

Std Strat necks 21 fret maple or rosewood $199
std tele Maple neck 21 frets $199
USA Necks
Strat maple or rosewood 22 frets $499
Tele maple (the morons) $499 Good luck
J Bass Rosewood 20 fret $499
P Bass Rosewood 20 fret $499

USA Bodies
Strats 3ts/olw/blk/mr/mb $399
Tele 3TS/olw/mr/mb $399
J and P bass 3ts/blk/mb/mr $399

I'm disgusted. There were obviously no lefties weighing in on this selection."
