Not sure if anybody has posted this link before but Maruszczyk Instruments has a nice selection of lefties in stock.

Seem like reasonable prices too. Anybody have any experience with these?

Took a look at the website... a lot of nicely built basses, for what seems to be affordable prices....

I played two, and wasn't impressed. One natural ash Jazz with maple fingerboard and painted-on black blocks on the fingerboard that played great but sounded a bit too bright to my ear and the neck felt like a piece of plastic due to the type of finish chosen. And one blueburst Jazz JM5 that was part of a giveaway (raffle) at the previous Lefty Bass Day in Duisburg, Germany. It looked well-made, it had a very comfortable neck (flat and wide (19 mm spacing at the bridge)), but I didn't get a chance to plug it in. This one too had painted-on blocks on the fingerboard, and painted-on binding. The bridge appeared to have been misplaced in the past and had been moved backwards slightly, but at a slight angle - the treble side was further from the nut than the bass side. I don't know if it was fixed by the manufacturer or by the store, but it looked a bit odd and of course shouldn't happen! Great looker though, with its matte dark blue bust and the blocks on the fingerboard, even if they were faux.

Re horror stories - With this particular company?? Or just horror stories in general?? (i.e. the Alleva-Coppolo affair)

too many tales of small obscure brands fucking up.
not necessarily like the Alleva-Coppolo affair, that was shady as hell.
like the bachbird thing. it was resolved in the end but it was real amateurish in the first place.
hell, I ordered a fame baphomet (which are made by mayones for musicstore.de which is a pretty big chain in Germany as I understand) in may.
it was supposed to get here in early august-the latest. currently I'm "-2, we should be getting one instrument on the 18th and another on the 31st. so I hope it'll be shipped early November"
I'm a sucker for small brands but it's getting harder and harder. especially for a lefty.

I've owned a custom ordered Maruszczyk and it was really good. And I got it 2 months after my first payment.

A few other french lefty bassists own one, there are some small finish problems sometimes, but nothing major. As far as I'm concerned, they build good player basses, and almost everything is achievable for us lefties with no upcharge, which I greatly appreciate.
