I agree it is high however they have the make an offer posted, so I suspect they are hoping someone will want it bad enough and pay the asking price or worst case someone will make them an offer. I always laugh on Ebay how some folks charge high then write amazing descriptions to justify the high price.

With the weight of 10 lbs. 9 oz you can tell it's a 70's Fender, man those things are heavy. Hard to believe back in the day I had an Earth Tube Bass amp with 2, 15 inch speakers and a heavy Fender P Bass. Good thing I had a big ol 70's Cadillac to haul them around in.

Action and Playability: the action is nice medium-low; the neck has a slight bow in it, but the truss rod functions flawlessly

Yeah but it'll "keep you on the stage for the long haul"!! WTF does that mean?
Nice looking bass but priced way high. I have the exact same bass (year, color, weight...etc) that I purchased about 5 years ago from Southpaw guitars. It cost me around $1250 total.

Man that's a great price. I have been looking for months & haven't come across "the one" as of yet. Cheapest I have seen is $1600 for a 78.

For awhile, they always had vintage stuff and were always cool with giving the best price. They stopped the vintage thing for awhile but recently had a 75 Jazz bass there that someone here bought. I've bought 2 or 3 70's Fenders from them in the past and they were always really good about pricing them. Great bunch of guys.

If one of you folks are interested, I would suggest making an offer, if these are good guys it cannot hurt, the worst case would be if they did not accept your offer.

I agree with making them an offer. However, with the asking price being as high as it is, the only offer (that I believe they'll accept) would still be considered overpriced for that bass. But, there's only one way to find out I guess!

Something sure did a tap-dance on the bottom of that bass! ;)

Given that the 3TS body is somewhat of a rarity for 78/79, if it were me I'd make them an off-ebay offer of $1900 with the option of a few days inspection period. IMO, it's just not worth more than that.

Looks pretty clean controls wise and if scratchy pots, usually an easy fix with deoxit. Almost 11lbs?. That's a good weight on a P bass. I am sure there is some wiggle room on best offer. Wonder if the ashtrays are truly original with the mute tape on the bridge ashtray. Both mine had it.
