this is the first Gibson I've seen that uses a custom Babicz bridge on it... custom order perhaps?

Not yet. But I know Pete of Scream Basses (simply called screambasses here) has, and Rod might as well!
Pete opened a thread about them once, but that was before he actually installed them so little is written about actual experience with these bridges on the forum. But maybe drop them a line :)

There's a thread here about them. I only used one when I was building basses and generally liked its performance.

Screambasses - I see the last post in your thread was 2010... what kind of feedback did you get from your customers on this bridge, if any?

I built only one bass using the Babicz bridge. It was a MM fretless with a birdseye maple neck (French finished), paulownia body, a custom Nordstrand PUP, and Audere four-band pre-amp in seafoam green. The customer wanted the custom graphics on the pickguard and orange control cover. This bass came out fantastic, but it was too light for him and he sold it. The bridge was easy to install and intonate and looked good on the bass, as you can see.

Gorgeous fretboard on this bass! Still think the Babicz is one of the most innovative bass bridges I've seen, and would like to install one a bass one day....
