For those unfamiliar with this model, check out the youtube videos of Jonas Hellborg playing an Alien. Fantastic!

Is that a German made model or a Rockbass?

I think that's the "Warwick Alien", according to the Warwick web site they don't call that one a "Rockbass"

The menu heading is "Alien Acoustic Made In China", the other two, which look totally different, are: Rockbass Alien Standard and Rockbass Alien Deluxe

These are made in Vietnam. All reports say they are very high quality. If it was German-made it would probably cost US$4000.

According to a source, these are actually made in China..... But VERY well made. I think the Vietnam ones were before.

Off the Adirondack Guitar Web site.

Left Handed Warwick Alien 4 Acoustic Electric Bass

The Left Handed Warwick Alien 4 has unusual styling in the convenient cutaway, the off-center asymmetric soundhole, add to the uniqueness of the overall shape and warm tones of this acoustic model. The top and body are both laminated for increased durability in stage use. Equipped with the Fishman Prefix™ Plus acoustic guitar system, it provides a variable notch filter, shelving bass & treble, semi-parametric contour and brilliance controls for precise tone shaping. There is also a phase reversal switch and low battery indicator. Even without amplification, the basic character is evident; a growling tone across the instrument's full range with a big bottom. Unlike all other Warwick basses, the Alien is not manufactured in Germany. Built in Vietnam by a well-known acoustic builder to Warwick's exacting specifications, using technology and components supplied by Warwick. They were chosen for their proven acoustic expertise as well as meeting the demanding standards of Warwick.

...not to get into an argument but Dennis @ Adirondack doesn't always have the latest and greatest specs and that listing is old and generic. They "were" made in Vietnam.

Anyways, from a source and from Warwick's official website, it is now made in China and there are 3 models inc. this listing one above <see screenshot>

Let me get this straight: laminate top, laminate sides and back, and Fishman prefix plus electronics, made in china. List price north of $2K, but a bargain at $1500! Those are the type of specs you find on the cheapest acoustic electric guitars! Gotta love marketing.

It's definitely a distinctive, good-looking (in my eyes!) acoustic bass, but I was thinking the same thing as sglider's quote above...

Man, This makes my Martin, made with solid Mahogany tops and Sapele sides, and other Martins, seem like a steal.
