Are the new Rics shipping in those silver cases?

As far as I know, that's the only case that Ric makes that will work for a lefty bass.

That's the vintage case.

(Not so) funny story - Musician's Friend lists that case on their site, saying it will fit both righty and lefty Ric basses. The case pictured is a lefty case (with lefty bass inside!). I bought it, but what arrived was righty case - my lefty Ric wouldn't fit. After a little bit of confused defiance on their part, they took it back.

That's what both of mine came in (the one I kept and the one I sent back).

Yeah, to clarify. They don't make a molded SKB style case for any lefty bass. It's just this one. My 4004Cii came with the same case and I had the same issue when I ordered a replacement case for my '77 4001. The first one the guitar shop got was right handed and I had to "prove it" to them that there was an actual "lefty vintage reissue case" before they took it back and ordered the right one.

When looking at this bass in ebay, click "View Sellers other Items", he has a bunch of other stuff posted as well. This seller often has left handed basses posted on ebay normally at fair prices. I would agree this one is very high priced. If you look at his other stuff he has an 81 Right Handed Rick in Ruby Red for $1800 so his Rick prices are normally not high but for this bass I agree it's about $900 overpriced.

All things said and done it really is a nice bass.

Um...... That looks like the one from "pick of the rick" that I got. I returned it due to financial issues. I bet this guy bought it. It was only 1800$. He's making a killing with that price and RIC are going to make the 2013 in Ruby Red as a standard... FYI. I talked to them at Winter NAMM.

Is this one of the Rick's someone here had setup, neck issues with? Cool to see all of the comments so far, as I have no clue what the value of ANY Rick is... this is one of the reasons why I follow this forum's threads so closely... you guys are the best when it comes to knowledge and pricing on just about every bass out there that's available to lefties... left-on!
