Is 11+ lbs. bloated?

Opinions?

Yeah, that's a boar anchor. Nearly 12 lbs. is a hefty bass, but if you can handle the weight and like the sound it might be nice. Seems like you're paying more for it because of how clean it is. If you're planning to play it alot the weight and paying extra for it's collectability would be two big strikes against it for me.

Personally I'd find a nice medium or light weight players bass over this one.

I used to be off in my own little world when it came to playing bass and the one thing that has surprised me since I started frequenting bass player's forums is that most people don't share my preference to heavier basses. I guess that fact that I'm a pretty big/strong guy might have something to do with it. A nine lb bass just feels like a piece of plywood with strings to me, I need some heft to my bass for it to feel worthy of dosing out a big meaty bottom end.

All I can say is, if that bass goes for $6000 my '72 is going right up on ebay! :o

I like medium weight basses but my lightweight ones sure are appealing after years of heavyweight basses early on. If you're OK with the heavy weight that should be an advantage to you in the price, but that's a tall price tag for a bass that's too heavy to be a nightly player for many guys.

That's a hot bass! Certainly never seen another one like it and in such condition.

I'm such a wimp when it comes to weight. The heaviest bass I have right now is 8 lbs 11 oz, and I think that's the heaviest I ever want to play. . .

The problem with lefty vintage Fenders, or any other brand, is that while they are worth (subjective) at least the same as the righties, the lefty market is so small in comparison, and there are just very few lefty collectors.
