Hi guys,
This was the bass I got with the snapped headstock that I repaired myself. Solid flame maple body, neck through, MEC pups, etc. I replaced the bridge with a brand new Warwick bridge, cleaned it up, fresh tung oil, etc. The case is a beat up TKL with one bad catch.

Thanks,

Mark

Speaking of "honesty," here's a listing on Craig's List with ZERO mention of a broken headstock.

No worries... I knew it wasn't you.

I tried to keep out of this whole thing, since there's always more to the story than what anyone knows, but... I think it's quite clear what's going on here.

"The proof is in the pudding" as they sometimes say.

Anyway... good luck getting that bass back, Mark.

Hi guys,

Sorry to bring this up again in a negative light as I had hoped this would eventually be settled and I would get it back. However, I had my divorce trial today and the subject of my Warwick came up. In fact, my ex was specifically asked about it in court by my lawyer as the first judge we had, deemed it to be a "marital asset". Go figure. So in response to the question as to its whereabouts she has now told the court that it was stolen from a car in Minneapolis. We're awaiting the police report as SOME form of proof. Please pardon my skepticism as I find that a little too convenient. So, if anybody happens to spy this beast anywhere, in particular, pawn shops and music stores in Minneapolis, please let me know.

Thanks all and again, apologies for having to bring this up. :(

"Marital asset"? Here's a thought: If and when you're back in court bring a bass with you and insist she prove she can play it. Should be pretty clear who's bass it was then.

Sorry to hear you're going through this aggravation. I hope, for her sake, she can prove it was stolen, as lying in a court of law is perjury last I checked.

Well, now that this is more less settled with the judge on the ex marital front, I'm in the process of confirming the police report with the Minneapolis Police. Should know more tomorrow about that. However, for those of you that HAVE had things stolen in the past, I'd like to share my plan to search for my bass. Aside from calling the music stores and pawn shops in that area (which is going to take some time, thankfully I have unlimited long distance) I'm basically going to make as much digital noise as I can. This posting here; a craigslist ad; a talkbass posting; there's a Facebook page for stolen instruments dedicated to the Twin Cities; Arni's site; and the Warwick forums. I have nothing to lose and possibly my bass to gain back so what the hell.

If anybody else has any ideas please feel free to share.

Good luck to all of us that have lost instruments to theft. It's no fun at all. :(

I live on the Island of Oahu, and have had two basses stolen over the years. The first was a Hohner Steinberger B2B back in 1996, and the second was a Michael Kelly dragonfly acoustic bass back in 2009. Haven't seen either one since. I would have thought I would have seen the Kelly bass by now, as it's so unusual, and have the serial number on it, but I've not seen anyone here playing even a right handed one. The crack-heads who stole it from my van probably took one look at it, probably figured it would be impossible to unload a left hand bass, and chucked it in a dumpster. At least that's my theory anyways......

Good luck on your quest, and I hope you eventually find it. It would certainly make for a good story.

Bummer about your basses fivebass. Sorry to hear that story. You may be right and I have thought along similar lines... it might be lying dead somewhere. But all I can do is take whatever action I can, which is quite a bit, and hope for the best. I spoke to an officer at the St. Paul, MN police department this morning. Got the case number and associated the serial number of the bass with that number. I could be wrong but I think they have a database there that is associated with a database that the pawn shops have to enter their goods into. If so, a simple search may turn it up. You guys wouldn't believe the lame description my ex gave to the police: "natural wood bass guitar". No wonder they closed the case due to lack of information. Now at least they have something to go on.

Obviously I hope there is a happy ending to this story.

You know, as I was reading all about this I was gonna post and say, maybe it's best to take the high road, let this one go and move on with your life, play some gigs, save up the cash and buy a new dream bass to go along with a new beginning. But when you put it this way, I say go for it, and good luck! :)

Hi guys,

Well, graves and thumbslam and I have been frantically messaging back and forth but it may be for naught. Thumbslam texted me late last night to ask if that was my bass on ebay yesterday. It was...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 500wt_1354

As you can see it's been pulled. Was only on for 24 to 48 hours it seems. I've contacted the police in St. Paul but I doubt they're going to be able to act fast enough. I've contacted the seller and offered a "reward" in the hope that he/she may be interested.

Is there anybody here in the Twin Cities area in case he/she bites? I may require assistance.

thanks

Look at the wear on the P pickup, the master volume wear and flame character resemblances..... this is 3 of "many" resemblances. Proof!!

The nice thing about a grain pattern like this is it's just like a fingerprint. When you look at the grain starting from the bridge - on both sides - and go back to the string bracket, there's no doubt it's identical! 100% the same bass. I hope seller claims the reward, or the police catch up to him and get it back. Man, so close, and yet so far still; what an odyssey!

News flash! I just got an email from the seller requesting proof of ownership. He has said that if I can prove that it is mine that it will be returned to me!

I hope he has a big inbox! ;)

Further update, just got an email from the fellow directly, he saw my posting on the Twin Cities Stolen Musical Instrument Facebook page and gave me his name and number and has told me that he wants to give me my bass back, no reward needed.

Fingers crossed. :? 8-)
