An El Monte lefty Mockingbird! :o Why'd you have to show this? :(

Amazing birdseye on this one. Knobs don't look to be original but are easily replaced. Likewise on the PUPs, which have staggered pole pieces and are probably non-original. I just found a set of original 80's DiMarzio P PUPs a few months ago that I plan on dropping back into my shorthorn Mockingbird, so they can be found easily as well. Price is a bit steep on this bass though. I bought BOTH my TJ Mockingbird and Eagle Bass from Tom at leftyloserguitars.com last year for a little more than the seller's asking price. I got a great deal, but I think market value should be around $1500-1600. Tom still has a lefty Mockingbird and a rarer Wave bass in stock, if anyone's interested, as well as a US Warlock and Ironbird.

Do not compare the late 70's/early 80's BC Riches to the crap they make today. The older ones were excellent high quality boutique instruments (poor balance on the Mockingbird not withstanding). Top craftsmanship, woods, electronics, etc. I think BC Rich has seriously damaged their reputation, given what they once were vs. what they now produce/market.

honestly i love the old bc rich basses, all their stuff was amazing back then but now it seems the people they out source their foreign made stuff to have really ruined their reputation, but when i was working at g.c years ago we once got a giant stock of reissues that were amazing, they had a mockingbird bass that other then the string spacing was just killer. i dont know if they are still releasing them but for the price they were at (749.00 for dual Ps,3 band eq,active/passive and series parrell switches(i think) neck through,24 fret, neck radius similar to a jazz bass, ebony fret board) they were well worth the money and the guitars were amazingly versitle. If i had the cash for a vintage bass an old bc rich would have to be somewhere in my top or prospeces (including a 60s or 70s jazz bass and EB-03 plus an ovation magnum II)

Beautiful wood!
I like Mockingbirds but never thought they looked good lefty. I would like to get an Eagle in my collection someday. My brother-in-law got an Eagle bass when they first started making them in Japan back in the 80's (can't rember what that series was called) and it was a very well made and a great sounding bass. I believe he still has it.

How the mighty have fallen. :(

Yeah, that one's been out there for a while now. The only issue with that one is the non-original XLR input jack. Strange, but the majority of the lefty Mocks I've seen are shorthorns. They're supposed to be the rarest Mocks, but I guess they were kind to lefties during that build period.
