Definitely. Let's hope it's just a prototype shot and not indicative of a final instrument.

Wow! Just checked out the YouTube demoes. Very cool! Being a bit of a techno dweeb myself I think this looks like a fantastic instrument with a ton of potential. I was looking at the pic of the bridge though.... is it just me or do those individual bridges look just a smidge out of alignment?

The screws themselves look to be straight across. It looks like the back piece that the string is fed through appears to bent at slightly different angles. In other words, the metal "sprang back" a tiny bit more on some bridges than on others. Plus, there is the extra handling from the chroming process, and the hands-on polishing process that changed that 90 degree angle ever so slightly. I'm sure it has no effect on the set-up, the bridge is the final factor in length and pitch.

Plus, after reading on the site, this design helps recognize the pitch-bend on the string.

I'm waiting. I don't know if they are at the NAMM. I'll drop a line as soon it is over. Me too can't wait. But having used the older version about 20 years ago I know it is going to be good AND useful.

I'm still waiting. They had problems with the knobs. You know lefty knobs !!!

It is very humide right now in Australia so it takes longer for the paint to dry.

I did receive some pics of the body been made. You can view it on their blog page.

Can't seem to find the address for their blog. Could you post it please?

Thanks

Uhm, I'm assuming that most of those blog posts are dummy holding copy, unless I just developed dyslexia.

 :D

That looks spectacular! You ordered this when around November? 3 or so months isn't a bad turnaround for a custom made instrument, but factor in the higher than average anticipation ratio and it must seem like an eternity.

Yep not too long. I think it is the shortest time I've waited for a custom bass.

I'm happy with the color.

Excellent color choice. I'm leaning towards either that blue or the teal myself.

Now where to scrape up $4000 :?:

LOL

It is a good thing that i have a good relationship with people at the bank ;-)

I'll let you know guys how it goes.

I'm a bit scared because I sold all my MIDI bass gear a long time ago when I got my bass stolen.

Now I plan to do everything in a laptop with softwares but I have no idea how i can use the patch changes in it like i used to with my Yamaha midi patchbay MP-4. It was awesome ,i could change from Arco string section to Pizz in a fraction of a second. Now I have no idea how to do it with all that techonogy that we have ;-(.

Hi Sly,

The bass looks great. I'm looking forward to hearing your reports as well. In regards to the patch changes you could use a Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live to send MIDI patch changes. I have one and it can do that and much more of course. If you don't want to use the sounds (which can be great if you spend the time learning how to program your own patches), I don't think you would even have to plug your bass in to it to use it as a patch change device.

I'm sure there are other pedal boards that will do the same thing. The Boss GT10-B or the Roland FC-300 for example. The FC-300 is just a foot controller so it may be the best for your purposes.

Both the Boss and the Bass Pod also have audio in so you can record the bass's audio direct to your laptop via USB.

Good luck.
