Hi Mark.

Thanks for the tips. Do these models have MIDI I/O?

I'll have to investigate in this. My old school set-up was perfect. The midi patchbay was sending PC to 3 differents sound modules at once so I was able to create some amazing combis.

Should receive the bass within 7 days now.

I'll keep you posted.

Syl

I use the Voodoo Labs/Digital Music Ground Control Pro to do PC and CC changes with my midi setup. I control 4 different devices with it right now. It's a great unit with a nice large alphanumeric display to show my patches/song titles. The only thing it doesn't do (which I'm a bit bummed about and I wish they would offer ALREADY!) is a patch editor/librarian software for my laptop so I could put together set lists the day of a gig and upload the patches in that order for the performance. Instead, I have to follow a hard copy print out of my set list(s) and scroll up/down to the corresponding patch number. But there are plenty of foot controllers out there that will do what I'm looking for (Gordius Little Giant, Roctron All Access, Axess FX-1, etc).

Slybass, have you checked out the Industrial Radio site lately? They're now offering a LOWER priced model! :o

The one unfortunate catch though...no lefties. :(

Maybe that will change someday.

Hi Sly,

Yes, all 3 of the units I mentioned have MIDI I/O. That unit PJ mentioned looks pretty good too. Although one of the things that I think may be really great is programming the pedals on any of the units to send CC messages so you can affect synth parameters in real time. Like filter sweeps and things like that. It looks like the Roland can accept up to 3 additional pedal inputs giving you a total of 5 pedals for CC messages... plus switches.

A $2.5k bass made of agathis...
Funny, I always associated that species of wood with low-end Ibanez instruments.

And any colour you like, as long as it's black (satin) :P

Even the higher end model (Now called the deluxe) had an agathis body with an upcharge option for alder initially, though I now see that they're giving you either alder or ash in the pricing. But it also has Nordstrands and other upgrades. (It doesn't specify what PUPs are in this cheaper model). Still, you're paying for the technology here, though a righty Peavey Cyber Base went for $300 on ebay 2 weeks ago (without the cable/module)!

I'm going to e-mail them and see about offering the cheaper model in lefty, as the deluxe is out of my price range right now. I have no problem with black, since I think it looks cool on the deluxe model.

Thank you all for the suggestions for the MIDI switcher. I'll have to look at all sort of options. I know there is a patch changes system on the bass with the notes on frets with a pedal. So I'll have to check how it respond to softwares which I plan to use for sounds.

BTW The bass has been shipped. It should land on next thursday. I'm so anxious to play it.

Keep you posted.

Whoopi!!!

I did receive the bass yesterday. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for the power supply for the interface. They suggested me to buy my own because it is easier for me to get it then them in Australia. So for MIDI, I'll have to wait a bit but....

The bass plays great. The finish is awesome and the sound is marvelous. I'm impressed with the nordstrand's pick-ups. This is a great sounding bass with a lot of output too.

So talk to ya later,

Syl

Got the bass and made myself a PS while waiting for the ones they suggested.

I'll start a new topic in basses. Bring your questions. I haven't checked everything on it yet but it is a killer !!! Can't sleep anymore LOL

Congrats slybass, I'm jealous. I'll post my questions in "basses". Would obviously love to see/hear some demos when you get the chance.
