"A lefty MTD 5 string for $600"

http://newyork.craigslist.org/jsy/msg/1332296527.html

No clue what these basses go for, but I was at a concert where the bass was played (I think), so I found it to be interesting.

Is the MTD the non Fender bass with the maple fretboard?

Paul is asking crazy prices for his amp rig, wonder why the bass is more reasonable?

No, I don't think I see an MTD in these pics.

That other bass in the background is a Bossa Bass 5, Japanese company and really fine quality. If that's going for $600, take it n run!

I looked up the company. They also seem to have a US-made model that's absolutely gorgeous

Michael Tobias makes some awesome basses.
The U.S. basses are all custom and handmade in Kingston NY, and range in the $3000-$5000 range.

MTD are his cheaper basses made in Korea for his company. They range around $400-$1000.
Sound from either series of basses is awesome.

I'm waiting for word on my Kingston 5 string Heir.

The expensive US-made ones are called MTD too :)
The name Tobias can only be found on new instruments made by the Gibson company (both USA and Asian made), everything Michael Tobias brings out himself is called MTD now.
