Correct me if I'm wrong, but if this is based on a '75 J, shouldn't that bridge PUP be back closer to the bridge?

Yes, it should, but the Japanese models all had the bridge pickup in the 60s position unfortunately. Mine is like that too. The weight on mine is quite hefty too, they used heavy sen ash for the body.

I had thought some of the reissues were made with the adjusted pickup position. I was able to find a picture of the one I had (of course I just recently cleaned out my e-mails and probably deleted many others). I had thought it has the adjusted position, but in this picture it looks like it has the standard position.

Yes remember the black one I had, it had the 70's bridge position.
There's a good talk about that somewhere here on the site.
Some had, some didn't. Why? IDK!

There were some Japan made 70's reissues that were true 70's pup positions. Haven't seen. lot fo them tho.
