"Behold the Lion" bass needs more info
Re: "Behold the Lion" bass needs more info
The knobs effect volume, tone, and "growl" on the Behold the Lion bass. That's too funny
It does look cool tho you are right.

That's his user name on eBay, he used to build basses to build basses occasionally and sell there.bhunt1 wrote:The knobs effect volume, tone, and "growl" on the Behold the Lion bass. That's too funny

He once bought a short scale from me, really nice guy.

Ah, cool, thanks! That one has been there for at least five years. I've actually been kind of interested in it, but the photos aren't doing the finish any favors. I'd need to see it in person.

That top wood is simply gorgeous! As to the price, and being a carpenter, I think everyone here knows how much time, skill, and detail, goes into building a bass... is this bass worth $1499? Don't know, until it can be played, and assessed... and again, that top is amazing!

Re: "Behold the Lion" bass needs more info
I have a one of a kind left handed bass from Behold The Lion- as mentioned he was a left handed luthier, I believe based on the east coast, active during the early 2000's. Unfortunately it's been so long that I can't locate any of our old email interactions, but my recollection is that his original motivation was to create what he himself wanted, but couldn't find: a compact ergonomically focused custom bass for a lefty player, crafted with high attention to detail and incorporating high quality woods and components. After a few years having produced several (I'm guessing maybe a dozen or so?) basses with each design being unique in its own right, it seems he dropped out of sight.
This particular bass was a rarity in that all his other builds that I've seen were short scale, but this one features a full 34" scale with a 22 fret neck. Similar to the Ibanez "bean" bass design of the late 80's, it's lightweight and extremely comfortable to play due to its compact size. The body is a beautiful spalted top over a mahogany core. It plays like butter, and the 2 active EMG's sound great.

Price drop!
Re: "Behold the Lion" bass needs more info
I bought this from him in 2009/10 I guess; it was medium scale but I had a long scale neck put on it but it's a great bass, it's my only Fauxender bass but fun to play. Great craftsmanship & great guy, hope he's doing well.
