 Post subject: Kiesel Vader Short Scale (30”)

I almost bought this, but I have a long scale five string. It seems pointless to have the same bass in two different scale lengths. Although my bad shoulder would love this!!!

I'm not usually a fan of the Vader shape, but it looks better proportioned as a shortscale! I bet this would be a ton of fun to play, and ridiculously compact!

I didn't know the Hipshot headpiece made it possible to use regular single-ball strings (let alone shortscale), but apparently it does! You can clamp the strings down with Allen bolts in the headpiece:

Yep, this is also the same type clamping system used on Zon VB-4/Vinnys. I have both a bass and a guitar with this type of headless system and you can use basically any normal set of strings.

It's not unlike the system that's on my Status basses (although mine don't have the 32" scale with Bendwell pictured here, but are regular 34" scale):
