Thanks for all the kind words! Here's the bass as it is for now. I thought that I would leave the finish alone until it has settled in and I knew everything worked as it should. I did replace the pickups and of coarse the tuners. Turns out that the Double J pickup Fender used on some of their models is also a drop in replacement. It can be split, so a push/pull knob may be in the cards for the future. That said, for a cheap bass, I am surprised by a few things on it. Number one, it sounds and plays Great! The bridge is a true lefty, and the pots are also wired for a lefty. I did mill the underside of the saddles to allow for lower action. I kept the stock bridge. I've been going through the back to stock phase. Everything works great so, down the road, it will get a re-paint. Thanks!

Bill, I wasn't aware that Fender made a double-jazz pickup... what model was it used on, and, was it their take on a humbucker? |

The American Deluxe P-bass had a humbucker like it for years, and it was used in the MIM Blacktop Precision, for example. Should make an awesome pair with a splitcoil, fully humbucking in all positions |

Nice. I bet that pickup does sound great. You should get a Boba Fett sticker for the back of the headstock in tribute to its previous “finish”. Haha |
