They nailed the burst on this one. I just miss the presence of alder or ash wood grain.

I own one of these great basses. I modded it with reverse tuners, a red tortoise guard, and all thread bridge. I paid half that- in 1998, with a hardshell case.
Never mind the lack of Alder or Ash... my bass is a sensible weight, balances great, and the neck is the most stable of any factory bass I own. Oh, yeah...it sounds great, too.
