Looks to be in good shape. Not a Ric guy but I don't recall seeing the black binding on the natural much if ever before, however I know "rare" is way overused in listings.

Not really sure how rare they are. I have seen a few though not as many as the standard white binding. In my opinion, $3200 is a bit high however, it’s worth what someone is willing to pay for it. For me, anything over $2000 is too much for a Ric.

And I can’t really tell from the pics that the seller posted, but the binding on the neck looks to be white. Strange that the binding on the body is black and the neck binding is white.

The plot thickens. I have seen mapleglo Ricks with black pick guards and white neck binding before, however, the ones I've seen from this era had checkerboard white body binding. This one appears to have black body binding, which I've only seen on later model 4001s. Also, wouldn't a '73 have a stock toaster neck PUP?
