Not to hijack the thread, but do you have any links to that wild looking band of yours Jay?

Haha! Thanks y'all. I just joined this band "White Cowbell Oklahoma" less than two months ago. They've been around since '99. Got quite a following here in Canada and do very well in Europe too. This shot was taken a couple of weeks ago at our big Toronto album launch show in front of 500 of our closest friends. There's lots of fire, sparks, dancing girls and even chainsaws. Yup I said chainsaws. It kind of an early '70's ZZ Top meets Deep Purple and Yes. Southern prog rock space boogie! Everyone uses a stage name like "Clem C. Clemson", "Handsome Chuck Sirloin" and "Chainsaw Charlie". My stage name is - and you guys will love this - "South Pawl Jones".

The scene depicted in this photo is not indicative of every show we play but definitely the larger centers get dancing girls if we can procure some. Recently played a show in Ottawa where a dancer employed a personal specialty called "fire tassels". I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Awe-some! I'm told our Amsterdam show will be out of control.

Like I said, I'm new in the band so I'm not too prominent on the website stuff yet but here's some links.

Thanks again guys. Hope to see some of you on the road.

Big +1. I wanna be in that band. Can I roadie?

The weights is a good idea too. When I got the Heads Up strap I said to myself, "I could have made this myself." But, of course you don't know that until you've got one in your hands.

Wow, the Heads Up looks pretty awesome, but it's $40 so I'm not quite ready to go there yet. I'll try a $10 shoulder pad first... :-)

Not to diss ya, but I'll bet you pay $30-to-$50 for bass strings that get changed out every 6-12 months (?), but a strap that will take the weight off your shoulder, and keep your bass in the right playing position for the entire gig isn't worth $40? Depending on the gig, you've probably made that in one set, or, for most of us, one night's pay! go for it, and don't look back!

I cut back every day in my life to save, but I NEVER cut back on my Music Gear! Go For It! 8-)

By the way, I use these, and they help keep my Basses in a playable position because of the width, and the "stick-a-bility".... http://comfortstrapp.com/

You're right. I was caught in a moment of weakness... just back from vacation so money on the mind. :-)
If I don't weigh down a strap, I'll never play the thing and what's the point of that!

Yep, +one on that! Buy a good strap, and give that bass a workout, so you'll know if it's for you or not!
