5-Strings with these specs. . .

It's a long shot, but if anybody happens to have any of these 5-strings for sale, or other basses with these specs:

-Roscoe SKB or Century
-Any Zon
-StingRay 5
-Mike Lull
-Pedulla (with 17 mm spacing)
-Ken Smith
-Carvin (BB preferred)
-Any other ideas?


General specs for those or other brands:

-Most importantly, it must be lightweight, at or under 9 lb.
-17 or 18 mm string spacing at the bridge.
-Either 34" or 35", that's not important, as long as they have a long upper horn that meets the body around the 12th fret (for example, no Warwicks or Spectors. . . )
-I prefer American-made basses.

Smiths and StingRays are virtually impossible to find at under 9 lb, but if they are close enough. . .

I'm just tired of moving back and forth from 4- to 5-strings (my own mental issues) so I sold my beloved Carvin B5 and I'm selling my Warwick FNA. No more 5-strings at home. Even though I've been playing 5-string for 14 years, if I must choose one, it'd be a 4-string. I've been sampling diffent basses for way to long, and it's time I concentrate more on music, you know, studying or composing more than browsing online stores, forums, and eBay.

So, I'm sticking to 4-string, Fender-type basses: Js and Ps, I need nothing more. I got a Carvin SB4001 on order, and I might have room for one more Jazz bass, and I'm hoping I will stop buying and selling for awhile.

That's the short answer. . . Now, for the long answer. . . .

Exactly! That's exactly what I'm doing on all my basses. I've been manually dropping the E for many year when I play 4s (it's about time I get a proper Hipshot). It ain't quite the same as having a low B, but it'll do. . .

I am totally with ya on this! Not to dismiss any other great instruments but those classic basses seem to work in so many different contexts while being so reliable it makes your life easier. You can just focus on the music as you said.

I am a big Brian Eno fan. I learned from him how minimalism and self-limitation enhance your creativity. When I got into using Cubase 20 yrs ago, it took me a long time before make some interesting music again. In the begining, I was sucked up into and obscessed with all this technology. I could not produce anything interesting for years.

The hipshot is great option but sometimes I just tune DGCF.
