I will receive a Jazz bass (body & neck only) and I was wondering if a regular knobs plate fits a lefty jazz?

Maybe considering an Audere kind of kit to put in. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance,

Sly

The control plate is symmetrical, so it works on both lefty and righty Jazz basses.

Of course, that won't stop some ebay entrepreneur from selling a 'lefty' plate for big $.

LOL

Thanks for the advice and infos.
I think I'm going for the Audere basic with v/v/b-t config.

I just got the bass today and WOW I look forward to put it all together.

If you buy an Audere preamp I suggest to leave it wired righty and to get used to it. I copy paste something from an older thread on this topic written by our in-house expert Rodent. I know it is true as I have experimented a lot with it.

Quote:
like noted above - YES on linear pots

but for an audio lot, definitely NO unless you don't want it to be usable the entire rotation

why is your builder having issues with lefty pots? it's not like you have a preamp in that bass that you need special pots for. AllParts stocks lefty pots, and any reasonable builder will have an account here

500K pots - http://www.allparts.com/CTS-Left-Handed ... 86-l00.htm
250K pots - http://www.allparts.com/CTS-Left-Handed ... 85-l00.htm

I put Audere pre-amps into all of the basses that I build. Love 'em. I also have many black
Jazz Bass plates if you need them...

That is good to know. The only problem seems to be the battery. My luthier may have to do a cavity in the back of the body to access the battery. I'll hope to have the bass by the end of the week, all fitted ;-)

It's no problem. It all (preamp and battery) will fit in the existing cavity nicely. He could route an area the battery can slip in to, if more room is needed.
