I wish there were options. I'm frustrated.

This is my dream upright, and they are available as a true lefty:

Matt, are you looking for a true upright, or an electric worthy of travel? This is from the Goliher website as well, and is available in lefty.

Also, Yamaha makes a very nice electric, but not sure if they make it left handed.

I'm actually going to be selling one of my upright basses. It's a fully converted left handed 3/4 carved bass. The bass is approx 75 years old. I purchased it from Kolsteins in 1988. Barry Kolstein did all of the conversion work on the bass. The bass is currently maintained by Dustin Williams of Williams Fine Violins here in Nashville. The bass recently underwent a restoration and full professional set up.

See older thread on the subject, Matt:

What's your budget? A converted used righty might be the best/easiest/cheapest way to go.

Oh damn. Thanks Peter, I forgot about that thread. Well. I think I am going to go with a cheapo bass. I know that's frowned upon, but money is practically non existent. So I'm going to take the gamble. I've had a couple of friends (righties) who have had good luck with these so called "CCBs" after proper setup. I'm a little nervous about it but I don't have thousands to spend. This is the time when I really wish I wasn't left handed. But oh well. At least I know what I'm potentially getting into.... :|

FWIW,

I commissioned a German made Wilfer in 1998 thru Lemur.

IIRC, I dealt with a man named Jerry who did an excellent job of making it all happen including the final set up of the instrument.

But overall, I feel your pain on procuring a lefty upright.
