I want an old(er) Fender Jazz.

No 3-bolts.

No sunbursts.

No crazy mods/hacks like extra pickup routes.

Well, no 3-bolts means you have to find a pre-1975, which are super rare in left-handed configuration, and they command big bucks. In my 12 years of gear hunting, I've seen maybe 3 or 4. The last one I saw was a '71 at Chicago Music Exchanged, and they wanted $5000. And it was almost unplayable (binding missing, bad frets, etc.)

But, don't dismiss 3-bolt necks entirely (although I understand the concerns). I have an '82, which is identical to a late-'70 model, and the 3-bolt joint is super strong, with no wobbling of any kind. I was lucky that the previous owner never used the microtilt feature, so the neck heel was just setting flat against the pocket, and it naturally made a perfect angle for low action.

Late-'70 lefty Jazzes are already at the $2800 mark, so imagine how much an older one will cost.

Just my .2 cents.

Agreed. I've never had a problem with my 3 bolt '77 J, or any other 3 bolt Fender I own.

I've also never had issues with any of my basses with 3 bolt necks. If you can live with a three bolt neck you could save big coin on the cost of the bass overall Trey.

Wasn't someone here thinking of selling a 70's Jazz?

It will be up in the for sale section soon. I took Carlos's advice and went about replacing some missing parts, only to actually find some of the original parts while cleaning up the basement this week! Details to follow.
