Jeroen,

thanks for letting me know about the auction. I'm curious about the EUR to USD rate. After running 330 Euros through an online converter, as near as I can tell the USD amount would be $437. Does that sound right? If it is, by the time I added in shipping, the bass could be well over $500. Plus, my friend never got back to me regarding the "Mom" factor. I think I'll bide my time for now, and wait for an auction in the US.

Have you received your ATK yet from the seller in Germany?

Aloha,
Ian

Man, that sucks! I don't want to think that you got scammed... what do you plan to do next? Did you use Paypal?

I just saw this post from awhile back, so I hope this means you never sent the seller the money, and that he's just an a-hole for not going through with the sale. Have you reported him to eBay yet?

I have never made a payment. I can't report him to eBay as his auction states he will only ship within Germany, so eBay cannot verify that he has indeed told me by email that he was willing to ship the bass to the Netherlands. And because I haven't actually paid the guy yet, there is no claim. I was advised by eBay to send the guy an email to let him know I'm cancelling my bid and will not buy the bass, so he can't report me to eBay.

All I can do now is give the guy negative feedback.

Turns out the seller was a fraudeur. He bought some very cheap items to gather positive feedback to look like a reliable eBayer, and then put some items for sale that weren't actually his. Check out his feedback page:

http://feedback.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... llFeedback

The description from the guy who gave him a neutral rating states "Be careful when transferring money, the addresses reported with eBay and with the bank do not match up and the guy has copied the pictures and description from my auction!"

The other negative rating reads "Despite my quick money transfer I never received the item. Keep your hands off!"

It's good to see you didn't get caught up in his scam. It would be great if guys like this were arrested for scams like this, as they are literally robbing people through their auctions.

Well, here goes: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie ... 0349768967
I won it. Now let's hope this will work out better. But I trust it will, as the guy preferred local pickup.

Why are all the lefty ATK's for sale in Europe these days?! Let me know when you have it in your possession, and how it looks, feels, plays.

By the way, I saw the guitar tech that has been working on the ATK I sold to my buddy at a blues jam tonight. He says it is ready for pickup, and here's what he's done to it - all frets pulled, neck straightened, new frets put in, stock nut replaced with a bone nut, set up with low action and now ready to Rock!

When it's back at my buddy's studio, I'll take pics and load in here so we can all drool....

You've all probably seen this already, but there's a lefty ATK300l 4 string on evilbay now. Seller has no feedback however:

Thanks! How did you know it was me! Oh yeah, the fivebass part of my eBay name must have been the giveaway... :D

Now I hope the shipping process goes without a hitch! I also hope the seller understands that Hawaii is part of the United States, and the shipping price doesn't become an issue...

Will keep you all informed, and will tell you all about it when it gets here....

Now the search starts for a 5-string!

I think Jeroen must read minds, or have access to evilbay's databases. Your id was scrambled by eBay ....

Haha, nope. Ian had at some point told me by PM his highest bid was $305, so by following the bidding it was easy to tell Ian had to be s***1 ;)

Ah, you so smaht! I had a proxy bid for $400, and the last bid against me came in the last two minutes. I'm glad I took the time to read up on the proxy feature... I was going to put in a proxy of $500, just to be safe, but I'm glad $400 wasn't breached.

The seller has emailed me back to say congratulations, and will be mailing the bass out by Tuesday or Wednesday, So I should see it sometime next week. I can't wait! But, as Jeroen's recent experiences have shown, anything can happen after the sale in the eBay world. However, I did receive a very quick reply, and that's a positive sign.

Now, the search for a five-string begins.... :geek: Thanks again Jeroen for the heads-up, and to the entire LeftyBassist community, it's great to be here with you all, and Aloooooooohaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

So-

The seller emailed me yesterday with a UPS tracking number, and as of today, the tracking number is good, and the UPS website shows the bass on schedule to arrive next Wednesday the 27th. That means it's coming ground, which means "ground to Hawaii" is a large barge steaming over the Pacific Ocean. I'll let you know when it arrives.... toot-toot!
