Re: Vintage Japanese basses represent the best bang for the
My Ibanez Roadstars and even my lowly MIJ Yamaha BB300 have shielding plates underneath the pickups. When was the last time you saw that on a sub-$1000 bass? 'Though the Roadstars have (solid) basswood bodies, they have a richer, more complex tone than all of the (solid alder?) MIM Fenders I tried ...

Re: Anybody heard of GAMMA basses?
I definitely had to agree with you in the original thread you posted on these basses that the images posted of the lefty you bought appeared to be very poorly made, but you definitely made your point then, let it go.
The same could be said of ALL the threads on this website. Do you "lock" or ...

Vintage Japanese basses represent the best bang for the buck
...for lefties, that is.
My favorite go-to bass is an old Lotus with one of those peculiar mini-humbuckers also found on Lawsuit era Hondo IIs. Next in line are my Ibanez Roadstars (P and P/J). I also love Aria ThorSound basses, especially the bolt-neck 32" scale single P pup ones. Some of those ...

Can we please move on? I understand that you are disappointed but you are starting to looking like a donkey.
"donkey" is not exactly a compliment, is it? Anyway, thanks for not "locking" this thread (so far) as though it contained a wild animal that might bite or something. I appreciate your not ...

Message received loud and clear. Will do.
I responded with one concise reply to four posts addressed at me. And you're calling me names for that. Furthermore, I'd not have had to post a new thread or even follow-up posts if previous posts and threads were not "locked" or deleted. I don't have anything additional to say unless more insults ...

Re: Anybody heard of GAMMA basses?
Yes, I was probably wrong about one of the posters at Talkbass, namely the guy with the handle lakefx. I noticed later that he made lots of contradictory and actually critical comments; for instance, stating that he discovered gaps between the body and the neck after removing the neck because the ...

I do appreciate permafrost sharing his experiences with the left handed bass community.
I am trying to understand the continual need to bring up this topic. You did get a refund right permafrost?

Re: Anybody heard of GAMMA basses?
As you can all see, I'm not doing anything wrong here. Only alerting fellow bass players to the existence of a person who is selling misrepresented subpar products.
I disagree.
You aren't simply making people aware, you've already done that here. You're repeatedly posting on the same subject ...

Last time I looked, it wasn't there anymore. You also deleted the second thread I started about this gamma business. Let's see how many more minutes this one's going to last. I'm certainly not holding my breath.

Yes, you're right about that.

Re: Anybody heard of GAMMA basses?
The website TALKBASS just banned me for posting the above. The reason TALKBASS gave for their decision? That I'm a TROLL.
That lets you know the kind of people TALKBASS administrators are and the kind of people they do "business" with.
Be advised.

Re: GAMMA Custom "BETA" (Jazz Style) Lefty Bass. New, MINT
Carvin bolt-on basses come closest to fitting the bill IMO. I wish they'd make P and MM style basses, though. We need good, solid mid-price-range instruments, made in America and in a color other than black or burst.
For my part, I love vintage Made in Japan basses the best.

Re price point of these basses. This is what Joe told me: "....oh, and one small request - PLEASE dont tell anyone what you paid for it...then everyone will expect me to make a bass for them for half price;-)..." and "...i guess Lefty basses dont command a premium like i thought... normally i sell ...

Re: GAMMA Custom "BETA" (Jazz Style) Lefty Bass. New, MINT
I'm not trying to prove I'm right nor hurt people's feelings. But when I know that fellow lefty bassists can get hurt if I don't publicly disclose what I know about this seller, I believe it's my duty to do just so. As our friend Bigevilrobot noted, some of the defects are visible in the very ...

Wow!
You can actually see the piece of black plastic that's hiding the gap between the neck and the body on some of the close-ups of the orange lefty bass that he uploaded to the GAMMA Fraternity Album on his Facebook page.

He wasn't even sure what wood the body was made of: "... as far as the body, i was told it is alder, bought it as alder but i would not bet my life on it." Re the pickups, this is what he said: "Those are my own J-Style Pups that are a cross between you standard Fender USA pups and SD Pups. They are ...

Re: GAMMA Custom "BETA" (Jazz Style) Lefty Bass. New, MINT
DON'T do business with this person.
I purchased this bass from him on eBay.
1. The bridge was mounted crooked. To hide this defect, he had loosened the screws (more on one side) so that the tension of the strings would pull it and make it look like it was mounted straight.
