Matt that is such a gorgeous bass I think I could EAT it, lol!
I haven't gone through all your blog posts, but the neck, did you salvage that from an older Fender?

Addison, I def see where you're coming from and agree.
I'm glad to know about the necks.
I have a Squier, and I hear people constantly dissing about how terrible they are...and then there's the Fenders, with a price disparity (especially if you get an American standard) that is enormous.

Cheap Basses--Worth it or Junk?
Hey guys,
I have a Precision Bass and absolutely love it. I have bigger hands than my father, who always has had to have narrow necked guitars because he couldn't get his hands around the bigger necks (for example, I love the feel of Les Paul guitar/bass while he can't stand it.)
However, I do ...

80s Squier Pickguards
Hello folks. I have an 86 Squier P Bass Made in Japan, and I'm looking for a replacement pickguard. The bass's former owner cut the thing up so it only covers the eletronics/knobs and not the pickups.
If anyone happens to have a pickguard from this era lying around, let me know.

Re: danelectro basses
Sort of off topic but...I heard Carol Kaye played a Danelectro Bass on Glen Campbell's Witchita Lineman...would a modern Danelectro produce that same kind of deep tone? I absolutely love that sound.

Re: Fixing up my used Precision...
Thanks for the advice guys! I understand about exceeding the value of the bass...I'm one of those folks who likes to keep old cars around and install leather seats, new paint jobs etc...basically I have a love affair with making old things (regardless of value) valuable in itself.

Fixing up my used Precision...
Hey folks, I'm working on fixing up my 86 Squier Precision Bass. The body is slightly worn and beat up from lots of playing time, and I love it, and my dad is envious of the authentic look it has (he has a sparkling brand new Strat that he's making "look old")
Anyway, I have a list of ideas of how ...

Re: Silky Smooth Bass Strings
Awesome, thank you for the suggestion! I've researched said strings and they have gotten near universal approval from bass players. They're expensive, but...I'm investing in my bass over time (perhaps a long time, lol!). But when I'm finished I want to replace the tuners, knobs, pickguard, etc, and ...

Silky Smooth Bass Strings
Hey folks, new lefty bassist here.
I've played keyboard for 10+ years but picked up Bass six months ago.
I have a Squier 86 (Japanese built) E-series P bass. I love it, but the strings I bought with it make my fingers bleed if I jump around/slide a lot. They produce an awesome BOOM if I'm ...
